Hello- I was hoping that someone could help me with my DMX lights that I have hooked up to my Skulltronix skull?
Here's where I am at.
I have loaded my routines and they seem to play fine, but the lights do not work.
The way they are hooked up is like this: Two leads coming out of the skull, one goes to the DMX box and the other to the back of a DMX light. (When I received my lights, I only got one power cord?) So for testing, I have one light plugged in for power, and the lead from the skull. On that light it says that I should leave the the switches on 3,4,6 & 10. The problem with this is that when I check the address out in the VSA software, there are already parts assigned to these address?
Having problems and would greatly welcome anyone's help with this.
Thanks,
Rick |

Hi
A little late perhaps but the answer might help someone else.
VSA routines shipped by SkullTroniX and NightFrights may have the external DMX light addressing different from one version of the skull to another. (we aren't talking eye lights) When you open the VSA routine check what addresses the routine uses for the lights and set the lights to those addresses. If your VSA routines don't agree with each other on the addressing just pick one and change the addresses in the other VSA routines to match. Use the F3 key to access the settings and change the values in the ADDR column. Be sure to save a copy of the routine first though and work only on the copy.
Things to remember:
VSA uses an address one lower than the actual DMX address.
Exception: Chauvet colorsplash lights are also off by one address, making them match just fine.
Always hook up and test one light at a time. Add additional lights after you have the first one working.
Bad DMX cables are common. Swap them if it isn't working.
Use a DMX terminator on the end of the DMX chain, especially if you have a lot of DMX devices.
You can calculate the DMX addresses on the dip switches of your lights by using any of the many dip switch calculators on the web. Just search for "DMX dip switch calculator".
Don't use DMX address 1-6 for anything. These are reserved addresses used for Skull configuration.
Test lights connected directly to the Enttec adaptor. This will eliminate the possibility that the wires from the skull are bad.
When you have it working SAVE it!
Hope this helps.
