I'm a newbie to all of this. Thanks to Guitarist I've been looking at the Exorcist. I'm getting ready to buy one soon but since I'm trying to start with many DMX components, I am interested in the DMeXorcist version that's been talked about.
My question: Is the DMeXorcist going to be a different box or is it a software version that's loaded onto the current Exorcist? I barely know what I'm doing so I want to get the most user-friendly version possible. I'm willing to wait if need be. Also, how much will the DMeXorcist version cost?
Thanks....
The Exorcist Box is just an input device that processes the inputs, we also use it as a security key to 'dis encourage' people from making unlicensed copies of the software.
Standard DMeXorcist uses exactly the same basic hardware as Exorcist.
The 14/15 input channel version of DMeXorcist will need a separate box which may be available at a later date, though truth is nobody has yet maxed out the 8 channels, so this version is a low priority.
To output the data to the DMX chain you will need an Enttec open USB converter... it may be worth asking Jerry if he has any when you place your order for Exorcist, otherwise these can be ordered from the Enttec site.... you also need VSA and VSA console.
Price of DMeXorcist is yet undecided, but the good news is until we do officially release the software and fix a price we are giving existing Exorcist customers the opportunity to beta test the new software... which in my opinion means it is virtually finished already, and I just need some enthusiastic individuals to prove me wrong. _________________ Bryan Davis

Oh wow! That's great news. Well, look for my order in the very near future. I'll also ask Jerry about the DMX interface. Gotta get that anyway
Thanks for the quick answer.
No it doesn't, I've been looking at adding support for the Pro widget, but its probably not worth doing.
The problem with the DMX pro is VSA doesn't work with it, and DMeXorcist basically works by playing VSA files.
This means that whilst you are developing your routines or controls then you are likely to want to build up the sequences in VSA test them there before you set up DMeXorcist to play them automatically. _________________ Bryan Davis
