Skulltronix RequirementsHello All!
Can anyone please let me know everything i will need to get up and running to add a Skulltronix skull to our Haunt? Or something I might want to add to make our lives a little easier?
I have a laptop, but my main concern is that we do about 20-30 shows per night. And usually the "guides" are the ones that will be operating the Skulltronix over and over and over....you get the idea. Is there a way to simply make this "push button"?
Let me know your thoughts.....
Thanks!

A laptop and speakers are generally all you need.
A typical SkullTroniX package consists of a Skull a DMX light set and at least one routine.
For triggering you have a number of choices, the basic way of triggering is to have someone press return on a computer keyboard and the routine will play, beyond this we recommend Exorcist, this is a system specifically developed for triggering VSA routines and gives you a number of choices
1) trigger via IR remote control
2) trigger by pressing a button on teh Exorcit IO box
3) trigger via a mat switch or other local area sensor
4) instead of a mat switch you can connect a long lead switch to the input port that your host discretely presses.
As well as this Exorcist gives you a lot more options like being able to run multiple props off of a single PC.

On the subject of Skulltronix requirements, I finally recieved a non-vista laptop to run my Skulltronix unit, however, it has only one USB port. Here's the question, can I use a port-expander to run both the skull and the DMX, or will I run into a problem?

you should be alright provided that the hub has its own power supply

One last question on the usb expanders. Does the unit I need have to be externally powered or will one that is BUS powered work? I just don't want to end up with another dust-catcher laying around.
