Mounting the skull on a bucky

I recently ordered a DMX skull.
As I prepare for its arrival I have been reading this forum.

My question regarding mounting the skull on a Bucky is :

Is there an other Name for the "Collar and set screw".
I went to home depot and couldnt find anything like it.

It seems drilling through such a small metal rod might be difficult.
So I thought the collar method might be better.

Or are you making this Collar? If so, what are you using?

Thanks

You can drill the hole in the shaft more easily by first flattening a spot on the shaft with a dremel and grinder. Use a good 1/8" bit in a drill motor, not a dremel bit for the actual hole.

The collars can be found in the hardware aisle of home depot in the long cabinet drawers where the set screws are found.

Or you can order at

I currently have the skull mounted on the 5/16 shaft of the bucky. It sits a little far back.

I have read that you should mount on the smaller shaft in front on th e5/16 shaft.
but wouldnt that mean the 5/16 shaft would go in the rear hole?

the rear hole has the wires coming out.wouldnt it be a bad idea to try to mount onto that shaft. wouldnt you run a risk of damaging the wires?

i mounted my skull on the 5/16  shaft and  did not use the hole with the wires.
i used the hole with the allen screw and had no problems with it
