starting at the computer you should have a USB cable that connects the Enttec box
Into the Enttec box you plug the 5pin-3pin adaptor
coming out of the skull you have 3 leads, one is the power and the other two are DMX
You should have two DMX extension cables which have 2 pin XLR connectors at one end, one of these can plug into the adaptor on the Enttec box and the connector on the other end can plug into one of the skull leads (doesn't matter which one)
Plug the other extension cable into the other skull lead
Next locate the terminator and plug this into the end of the second lead.
You should now be able to test your skull by running the routine from VSA.
If you have lights then remove the terminator from the second lead and plug the lead into the light, then find a DMX cable (with XLR connectors at each end, use this to connect the second light, and plug the terminator into the empty socket on teh second light.
If you continue to have problems then Call Jerry and he will be happy to help you get started.

so I guess I only needed one dmx cable to connect between the two light?
I can connect the power out on one light to the power in of the second, Right?
Next I guess I have two install the cd that came with the ent tec.
I already installed the vsa.
so how do I test the skull open vsa put in the routine cd?
anything I need to know before I try this?
thanks

you can use the other cable as an extension or in case you want to wire the parts in a different order, DMX is very flexible in this respect.
on one CD there should be a VSA file and a sound file. copy both to your computer (or run off of the CD) and open the VSA file in VSA.
Make sure you have the Enttec box connected to the computer before you start VSA
You may want to check that you have the drivers installed for the Enntec box, best way to do this is look i

how do I check that the ent tec drivers are installed?
your last post appears to have been cut off.

you need to load the VSA routine and look in the settings under port you should see ENTEC-0, if see NONE then click on the NON and select ENTEC-0... if you cant then you dont have the drivers installed

okay thanks.
but one more question...
I remeber seeing alot of micro switches on the back of the two lights.
is there a specific setting that should be used for the routines?
|
Phoenix

they should be preset to 44 (3,4,6,10) and 48 (5,6,10)

The file I sent was for VSA3.1
The File does work in VSA4.0 and once you save it and open again you will no longer get the version warning message

okay, I called jerry
we walked through things. skull started to work with no audio, then motion stopped too.
read to him the errors I was getting . something about codec???
he mentioned possibly removing i tunes. Gosh I hope thats not what I need to do. Will cause world war three aroud here.
he said He sent me a new disc. Apparently enttec disc that was sent is old?
need new drivers?
does this sound right.
forgt to ask..exactly what I need to do when the new disc comes?
do I need to unistall anything or will this disc just update what I already have??
I think jerry is going out of town so I am hesitant on calling him to ask such questions.
does any of these issues sound familiar?
and
about the lights
when they came I played with them to see if they worked. and flipped a few of those micro switched. But didnt thing to note what position they were in cause I thought there might be a specific setting for the routines.
so are they all supposed to be in the down position with 9 being the only one in the up position?

The correct light settings are 5,6,10 on one light and 3,4,6,10 on the other.
It does sound like something had screwed up the Audio Codecs on your computer, and by the sounds of it this is a family computer so Id be suspicious of anything that has been downloaded and installed on it, have you ANY other sound software installed on that computer.... I would hesitate to suspect iTunes but it could indeed be possible, maybe you could try downloading the latest version of Windows Media Player from Microsoft and see if that fixes it.
Its very hard for us to support the huge number of problems that can be associated with PCs and its often best if you have it looked at by someone who can fix the specific problem you have.

when you say 5 6 10
it that in the up position or down position?
I tried download microsoft media player but apparently I already have the latest version.
I dont know anything about codecs. or how to fix them.
do you think this cd jerry is sending will help?
Its getting frustrating not knowing enough about this stuff.

Codecs are files that tell your computer how to play/decode the sound files, and beyond that I know very little other than if you have wrong or bad Codecs you cant play sound.
Regardless of actually having the latest versions you need to still install the latest version in a hope that the process of installing will repair your computers sound Codecs.
The switches need to be in the on position
I've got no idea what's on the CD but I doubt its anything that will repair the sound Codecs.
Have you tried playing the sound file separately?
You can of course contact Brookshire software tech support since this particular problem is actually with VSA, and maybe they know more about the Codec issues.

Still need help...Hi Phoenix- I have read the manuals, and all the post that I can on trying to set up my SkullTronix Skull, The Exorcist and the DMX without any luck.
Here's what I have done so far:
-Loaded the software for the Exorcist and the VSA softare.
-Mounted the skull on a metal rod.
-Plugged in USB's and walked through the steps in the manual
I guess I am having trouble understanding everything that needs to happen to get things working.
I try loading the temple.vsa file and am lust having trouble understand how things hook-up and work. (that doesn't include the lights yet)
Any help that you could send my way would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Rick
