DMX LED light: How to change colors with VSA?

Okay, I'm getting ready to program VSA and I've run into my first snag. In VSA, what setting do I use so I can control my LED Par 83 Colorsplash Jr. to change colors and strobe? The two DMX choices on VSA is DMX relay (on/off) and DMX dimmer (dim). So far I see no way to control lighting colors and strobing.

Any suggestions and thanks in advance on this Smile

Use DMX dimmers

The Colour splash jr lights have 4 channels strobe/dim, Red, Green, Blue, however, from memory there is a trap with these lights, normally when using VSA you need to subtract one from the channel, however, I think when using Coloursplash lights you need to use the same number because the CS lights are 1 out as well

Start by setting your DMX address on your lights les say you use channel 32

Next set channels 31,32,33,34 and 35 (yeah I know that's 5 channels stick with me on this one) to output 250, and you should get a bright white light made up of the red green and blue LEDs

Now set channel 35 to output zero and check that this turns the blue off... if this does nothing try channel 34.

If channel 35 is blue then strobe/Dim is 32, red=33 green=34 and blue=35

If channel 34 is blue then strobe/Dim is 31, red=32 green=33 and blue=34

The RGB channels are easy to understant 0-255 just sets the dim level of each colour.

The strobe/dim channel is a little more complex, 1-127 gives you a strobe value 128-255 gives you a dim value

Thanks so much for the quick answer. So, to clarify a few things. In VSA I will be making 5 'devices' labeled LED Blue, LED Red, LED Green and LED strobe/dim and another one (?). Then I address them like you said and set the 'output' to 250. That way I can find out which channel is which color. Then I just command it to turn on and off. Depending what is on or off will give me the color I'm looking for.

Now on VSA, they don't have a term called 'output' but I'm thinking it's called '+value.' Am I right?

Feel free to correct me if I got some of this wrong. If I've summarized correctly then I think have have enough info to work this out.

Thank you again, there is NO WAY I would have figured this out on my own.

There is no output on the settings screen only limits

To set the outputs you need to make a routine and set them there.

It may be worth while taking some time to read the help file, its not very long and should answer most of your questions
