cant get skull to work what are these errorsCoCreateinstance CLSID_CMpegAdudioCodec class not registered
I clicked ok
after trying to open the audio (its supposed to be a wav file right)
I got the following
this vsa file uses a different file format and must be updated. once updated the file can no longer be opened by any other previous version of vsa
I clicked to update
then i got
unexpected file format.
I tried to load no desktop.
crashed the computer
disk needed to be checked for consistancy
recovered vsa and brookshire stuff
Got the same last two errors when i tried to work the skull
what does all this mean and how do I fix it
I thought I needed the updated routines.
jerry said he was sending a disk
I thought the disk was coming with new routines he said no drivers for the enttec.
but a cd arrived with the routines not drivers for the enttec.
tried it anyway and got the previous results.
Getting extremely frusrated here.
Thanks

Its hard to help you with your sound problems as its a fault with your computer, whilst we do out utmost to support our products its has been found that when the customer has a computer problem there is little more we can do than offer advice, and all too often the problems disappear when the computer gets repaired of the customer tries a different computer... it sounds like you have some unusual sound codices installed on your computer, which make it unable to play the sound files.
have you tried playing the sound files by double clicking on them? does this work? what software plays the sound file?
The sound files are normal WAV files, and please accept our assurances that they do work on just about every other computer they have been played on (even Apples), however, if you can play the sound file as above I would strongly recommend you raise the issue with Brookshire software, and find if they have some advice as the problem.
As for the Enttec drivers, do you need any?? plug the Enttec box into your computer and then open VSA, goto the settings page and look under the options for PORT, if you can select ENTEC-0 then you are OK, if it just says COMnn or then you need the FTDI drivers from here http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

sound files play when I click on them.
gotta check when I get home what program opens them.
I donwnloaded the driver from the disc that came with the enttec.
I'll check that alos when I get home.
this is the second compuetr that I have tried that hasnt worked.
why is jerry telling me to uninstall the ftdi driver and re-install from the disc he sent that dosent have any driver just routines????
I feel like I am getting the run around.
I will be calling him soon.

If the sound files play OK from other software and wont load/play from VSA then the best help you can get on that issue is from Brookshire Software http://www.brookshiresoftware.com as VSA is their product, and they are best placed to understand what's going on there.
What Version Of VSA do you have look help/about VSA to find out?
try and open VSA on its own and load just the sound file in....does it still not play?

well it turns out I didnt have the drivers installed on my laptop.
So with Jerrys help I installed them.
I am still getting an error:
CocreateinstanceCLSID>CMPEGcodec: class not registered
I can run the template but the error comes up when I try a routine.
I e mailed vsa with the error.
So this morning I try to install the drivers on my desktop.
It says they are already there.
So I give it a try and I am able to run a routine. Dont know why I couldnt yesterday if the drivers were there.
But now I have a new problem.
the routine ran fine the first time but since that the motion cuts off at the end of the routine.
any idea whats causing this? and how to fix?

Hey IceMan,
Which routine are you running?
I'd check first and foremost to see that there's not a rogue power command in the VSA routine that's shutting off the power to the servos prematurely. Open VSA and look for the track labeled "Power". There should only be two commands (little rectangles) on that track.
The last power command should be located after the routine has finished. If it somehow got moved to a position earlier in the routine, the servos will turn off before the routine is finished.
Check that and let us know if that helped at all.

Okay, regarding the errors, brookshire got back to me saying there was a bug that was fixed. they sent a link to an updated vsa program.
I havent been able to try it cause after multiple calls to Jerry. We couldnt figure out why the skull would stop at different times during the ghost host, Seance and even the template routines. Sometimes the routine would play all the way.
The skull was sent back to be "swapped" with another.
I really want to move along with this project so
I spent the extra cash to overnight it to him.
Just waiting to hear back from him.
