A GOOD QUIET SERVOI'm just new to the animatronic field and I was wondering what type of servo's you would recommend that don't create very much noise?
I'd like to purchase one of the skulltronix talking skulls but it's not yet in my budget so for now I'm on my own.
Thanks,

Servos by their nature are noisy, and in a workshop when your experimenting and up close and personal with the prop the noise can be very disappointing.
Generally plastic geared servo are quieter than metal gears, however metal geared servos are capable of handling higher loads
However, when it comes to show time the audience will be at a greater distance from the prop and noise will be masked by the sound track, its for this reason that having a professional quality sound track is a huge advantage as you can set the volume at a level that will adequately mask the noise, yet not have to suffer the snap crackle and pop that you get with the average home recording.

Noisy servosThe metal gear servos are both the noisiest and strongest servos. The nylon gear servos are quieter but much weaker.
If you are using a servo driven prop in a haunt don;t worry about the noise. The screams and sound systems will easily drown out the noise.
